Cort and Fatboy Appreciation Station
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My name is Gabriel, and I have been a fan of the Cort & Fatboy show since I first tuned in around 6 years ago. Even though I have never really gotten to know them in person (I've only managed to make it out to one midnight movie!) I feel as though I have shared many laughs, and commiserated much stupidity with them. Their podcast was a staple of my week, and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to their "mediocre bullshit". KUFO has made a horrible business decision, and I think that will be apparent to them as their listener base dwindles away. I think filling up the Baghdad with fuzzy-robed Lebowski's, raising thousands of dollars every year for the Perry Center, and creating such a massive uproar proves that the beautiful city of Portland demands far more than some imported shock jocks that work for cheap. I for one will never tune into KUFO again. I hope the rest of Portland does the same. |

RE: Cort & Fatboy Appreciation Thread
I've e-known Fatty for a number of years now, first encountering him on the millenniumfalcon.com message boards during their spoilerriffic run-up to Revenge of the Sith, a.k.a the only time that site has been worth a shit. A few novels of message board drama later, and the decent posters of that site's sub-community made their own board.
Funny how these things repeat themselves in new ways. I didn't become a regular listener until late August 2006. I had a rather pesky illness, some cold/flu shit that lasted at least two weeks. I found myself sitting around, having very little I could muster the energy to do. Then I thought, "Oh yeah, Fatboy has a podcast. Maybe I'll check that out." Been listening constantly ever since. It's often been the highlight of my night (or, in recent months, day) to sit down with a tasty snack, maybe work on something artistic, maybe play a game, and laugh my fucking ass off. I'd reference jokes to friends, have interesting conversational topics to bring up, or just fun shit to think about all thanks to Cort and Fatboy. I really, really, really hope we can keep listening somehow. |

RE: Cort & Fatboy Appreciation Thread
I have been listening to CFB since the third grade when I had a small portable radio and a two dollar pair of head phones that only worked in one ear. When my parents had thought that I had gone to sleep I would turn on my radio and go to the once glorious KUFO and listen to Cort and Fatboy during the nights. I am in eighth grade now. Last Christmas I received an Ipod from my family and since then I have heard every single show since christmas 2008. I have been using the message boards for a few months now and I was disappointed to hear that they would be going away. Today (October 24th, 2009) I got a message from Gabriel talking about this message board so I helped spread the news. Im glad we still have the Message boards (minus the thousands of comments) even if we don't have the show. Thank you Cort and Fatboy and thanks to all the CFB fans who helped with the message boards and are telling Alpha to fuck off.

RE: Cort & Fatboy Appreciation Thread
My first encounter with Fats and Cort was at the spin off board for mf. I enjoyed their podcasts and was always sad when the weekend came because that means no podcasts. Truly funny dudes.

LUCKY! , You can still cryPersonally I have listened to Cort and Fatboy since March of 2008 from what I remember. I used to stall for a few days so I can perform marathon mediocrity, but that soon became a fad I grew out of. I was pretty psyche to hear the Mike Russel power hour was going to be on the day the meh died, but alas my hopes, like the dozens of others, were silenced in one fell swoop. While Friday never came this week, I hope in the future Cort and the Fats shall ooze out of The Beast and become the semi-average champs they are in my heart once again. love my puntastic jokes? I should call myself Gene Shallot |

RE: Cort & Fatboy Appreciation Thread
I have had almost three glorious years of Cort and Faboy listenership. I found them through the Rick Emerson Show. Both shows were a godsend while I was working from home. I needed the laughs!!! I still need the laughs!!!!
Here's hoping for a quick return to the airwaves!!! |

Please keep this a appreciation thread and move this comments to a complain about KUFO thread. Also what they are doing is smart if you think about it. I believe they are clearing house and firing everyone to place their own lackies. With the video blocking normal people from entering the site, they can clean up and delete everything KUFO was before THE BEAST is unleashed. I mean when Tim Savage was fired, how quickly was he wiped off the site? How about bosek (forgot how to spell his name, sorry)? It makes sense if you think about that. Marconi, the guy who they are rehiring for the 3rd time I think was quickly erased the 2 times he was back on. It's what radio does so there's less of a chance at backlash from the fans. |

RE: Cort & Fatboy Appreciation Thread
Yeah i've been listening to C&F since they've had the podcast up, i've always been a local guy but given schooling and they're airing times i never could listen to the whole thing till podcasts. I always save up there podcasts for the week and then marathon through them on the weekends and into the following week. Now i only have one week of them left and am cherishing every last mediocre drop! The dull moments in my day are never going to be the same...

RE: Cort & Fatboy Appreciation Thread
The C&FB show hosted events that are responsible for so many fond memories of mine. Listing them might suck up too much band width.
The one that stands out the most though, is the final episodes of BSG at the Bagdad. The communal feeling in that theater was uncomparable. Vanessa (my girl friend) and I had a wonderful time at every event we went to, but those free showings will forever stand out in both our minds. Being surrounded by fellow BSG fans/nerds, talking to people in line, guest appearances, great beers, tasty tots, pizza.... it was the best. Anyway...love you guys, please fight the good fight. By which I don't mean trying to get back on KUFO...no...fuck those guys and fuck radio in general. It's always going to be a seedy business. Bit I mean that you should continue to publish podcasts. Those really are the best part of my work day...well...that and the end of the shift. Never stop. |

RE: Cort & Fatboy Appreciation Thread
I am so grateful that I discovered the podcasts in late 2007. I don't remember how, but it only matters that I did. C&F and Rick Emerson became a mainstay for me and a permanent part of my listening habits. I played them in my graduate school office at first for myself and then to a growing number of friends and professors. You guys, Mike Russell, David Walker, and Aaron Duran kept us sane during stressful moments.
Most of all the podcasts have made my mother laugh ever since she got sick. We've debated Hand vs. Foot and played along to Stump the Movie Douche through her discomfort. I'm sad that C&F were fired but thankful that I was able to enjoy them for so long and with so many people. |
