RE: Geek In The City Radio
Thanks!
![]() Um... Issue 38 is up. You can hear me all super nervous while talking with Max Brooks. Who was incredibly gracious since we were his LAST interview of his entire book tour AND he had his very sick son sitting on his lap. So, all things considered. He was way cool. |

Awesome sauce. Great to have the message boards still (minus the thousands of comments) and some of the old threads still to (sorta). God dammit Alpha.

Thanks Big J for starting this anew here. Sucks we all have to relocate, but the following that Cort and Fatty have is pretty damn amazing; you are the kind of audience any show only can dream of.

RE: Geek In The City Radio
C'mon Marvel has some good shit man! Captain America, Nova, New Avengers (earlier issues), and Cable and Deadpool were all amazing. Civil war is what got me re-addicted to comics. I haven't been able to keep up on comics lately though due to being a broke-ass college student, but it's good to hear the list is good. Maybe we should start a book nook thread here.

RE: Geek In The City Radio
I thought the Max Brooks interview was really great. Sounded really natural and informative. Issue 38 is great overall.
"What exists in a word, a letter, and in three; is asked too little and too much, yet is a building block of life and an enduring mystery? Give up? Why? Why is it that no one notices? No one thinks? Because nobody ever cares about the 'why' of the matter." |

I like and appreciate their tones and interviews. They don't ask the usual crap. We learn from the best and I continually give my thanks to Rick, Cort, and Bobby for those skills. |

RE: Geek In The City Radio
I don't know. I keep saying "sooner" and that is the most vague (yet true) answer. It is down to time (which there is little, believe it or not) and funds (of which there is even less than time).
But I do promise, they will return. Maybe we'll do a countdown... Feed the Zeds or something.

It was good to hear Mailman Chris again too. Sorry to hear that he's split from his woman, but to be honest the last time he was on that whole situation sounded like a trainwreck anyway.

I have a feeling there is going to be a big annual sized Geek In the City Radio Podcast coming up.

RE: Geek In The City Radio
Moar commentaries. I especially love the ones that are stock full of information (LOTR), or just full of awesome snark (Batman & Robin).
Oh also this is pretty much ancient but it just totally came to mind so I'm going to ramble about it anyways. In some issue way past but that came out during this year, at the end of the podcast you guys discussed some game designer or writer who was working on a game or some such shit and basically the dude was homophobic and you were like, "whaddya think listeners, do those kinda things affect your shopping decisions?". I always meant to reply to this and be like, yes and no. No because I don't technically care what somebody who makes something I like thinks, but YES, because if their viewpoints bleed into the product they're putting out, so severely that it offends me, annoys me, or makes me think I'm funding the church of Scientology, then no way am I doing that. Like if there's a videogame where they kill gays then that's fucked up. Simulated hatecrime is not cool. Now, I also don't really condone of beating up hookers in GTA for points but then, that's not my genre of games so I wouldn't be buying that anyway. I've read about games using simulated rape as a plot point as well. That's fucking disturbing. All the more reason for gaming industry to get more women involved, realize that women buy games, play games and you can't market this sort of misogynist violence without alienating that portion of your audience. RANT OVAH. |
