From what I hear you can play the second game without playing the first one. Both games are excellent from what i hear.

Watch out for Borderlands on the PS3 and PC, gearbox/2K was stupid and hired the multiplayer servers for the game to GameSpy Arcade, thus no one can play with each other unless they just through a bunch of hoops, and it still might drop you for no reason.

Hamachi doesn't work with the game for playing LAN, however a German program called Tunngle can. Heads up, the program is still in German but is being translated into English, once you get it running it works like a charm.

Hopefully Gearbox/2K gets smart and fixes this mess.

I cannot stand GameSpy! When I used to play AA (America's Army) I would be forced to update the GameSpy app every time I did not play for more than one week.

For some reason game developers like to do the multiplayer section of the game last right before the launch date. So when they don't have any budget left, corners are cut.

Because people don't go directly to the Multiplayer aspect of a game first. Most people play through the story, and then about half go online.

I saw at Guardian Games a 2-game pack. It included Bioshock and Oblivion for $40 total. If you don't own either, that seems like a damn fine deal.

Very tempting. I haven't played Bioshock yet and came very close to picking it up last weekend. Instead, I found myself mired in the 'Crash Course' campaign for L4D.
